Home to over 6% of all known plants, the gardens are acknowledged to be one of the finest in the world. Discover some of the world's oldest plants in the Orchid and Cycad House or stroll through Edinburgh 's most famous tropical rainforests in the Plant and People House.

To make sure you see the best of the Botanics why not take a tour with one of the expert guides. Guided Tours are available every day between April and September. Tours leave from the West Gate at 11.00am and 2.00pm every day. Tickets cost £3.00.

It is a wonderful day strolling thorough the 28 hectares of beautifully landscaped grounds, visiting the world famous rock garden or one of the 11 unique glass houses, including Britain's tallest palm house. There is also the tranquil Chinese hillside complete with a wild water ravine.

The Shop at the Botanical Gardens has a great selection of gifts souvenirs, crafts and plants. When your feet get sore has a rest at the terrace café which serves a delicious selection of high quality hot and cold food. 190 words
